Judge and the President of the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic
in the period from January 22, 2000 to September 30, 2006

A professional judge of the Regional court in Košice (1980). Vice-President of the City Court of Košice in the criminal department (1982), then Vice-President of the Court in the civil law department (1987) and the President of the City Court (1990).
A legal advisor at the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic (1993-1998). At the same time he was an advocate.
The Deputy Minister of Justice and Vice-President of the Legislative Council of the Government of the Slovak Republic (1998-2000). The President of the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic from 22 January 2000.
He is a Professor of Civil and European Law. The Head of the Institution of European Law at the Law faculty of the University of Pavol Jozef Safarik in Košice (2005).
From December 2004 a member of the European Commission for democracy through law (the Venice Commission). A member of the European Society of Public Law.
In October 2006 he became the Advocate General at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg.
